Muse Sac

Far Gone Accumulator is a good music site to find yourself some rare and unusual stuff you won't find elsewhere on the web. The archive is pretty extensive - has all the past posts. The guy who maintains the Blog, Michel Legrisbi posts downloadable playlists in mp3 format weekly, so you can grab some tunes if you want. To be honest, I would check this site out just to see the album covers and pictures that get posted.

Don't ask me who this is

Fat Possum Records artist T-Model Ford

Shamu digs jazz Flute.

For DJ's looking to meet, talk shop, exchange loops or whatever, there's Beat-Boot-Ique. You can also download compilations of material the users post on the site.

If you dig ambient stuff, check out Coldcut on Waveform Records.

I'm still not sure how I feel about "Mashups". I tend to favor the artists who were producing the kind of tracks that are now called "mashups" 10-15 years ago. The main difference being they were fucking good - not just two or three random tracks slapped together with no skill or finesse whatsoever. See Mashuptown.
A master at his craft, going way beyond the mashup, and a guy everybody else should follow, is Beatfanatic. He occasionally produces under different aliases, but there's no mistaking the raw talent and style of this Swedish beast - Bringing the thunderous percussive mayhem, ripping off heads and shitting down necks around the globe, trapping you in a latin funk riot with deep jazzy soulful groovy dance music.

Check out The Gospel According To Beatfanatic or Progressive Music For Eclectic Minds - probably not a record store near you. But you should get it anyway. Download it from Beatport

I really like the Afropop Worldwide site. Tons of great stuff there, and in their online shop's section they offer 10 free songs a week for download. They also have a great blog called Calabash.

I never made it to any huge outdoor raves. If you did, you might find some video of yourself in Angel Adam's index (dude takes some good photos - you should check those out too). A lot of the rave stuff is from England or overseas but the "Dune 2,3 & 4" footage is stateside and it was shot by this guy.

For what may be a classic case of a guy that loves music (and Ayn Rand) with too much time on his hands, visit Chris Matthew Sciabarra's "My Favorite Songs" webpage. Hear some audio clips, see some video and get an education. Try not to drown in all the links.

There's definitely a chance you may have heard of Von Von Von. If not, you're about to. Start with this piece from NYCTV's "Cool In Your Code" show:

Next, watch this classic Showtime At The Apollo appearance.

This dude is seriously THE king of self promotion. Talk about creating something out of nothing. Take a peek at the self-proclaimed International Pop Sensation's webpage for a slice of the life Vontastic.

This story must have been in the news over here, but I don't remember it:
"The lakeside Tennessee home of late country music superstar Johnny Cash has been destroyed in a fire. It burned down on Tuesday [4.10.07] while renovations were being carried out for its new owner, Bee Gee Barry Gibb."

I assume BBC is reporting on it because of the Barry Gibb connection. One might also assume that the 'not yet identified' cause of the fire was Johnny himself, from the grave, burning the house down in a Ring Of Fire, to keep a Bee Gee from living in it.

Talkin' it up, on the Barry Gibb Talk Show
Talkin' bout chest hair
Talkin bout..
Crazy gold medallions...

(there's a short add before the video - it's worth the wait)
