Amy Goodman Cuffed and Stuffed at the RNC

Democracy now! host Amy Goodman was arrested on Monday at the Republican National Convention while trying to question police officers about the arrest of two Democracy Now! producers who were covering a police standoff with street protesters. The producers both had press passes around their necks, and both announced they were media to the police. Nicole Salazar was knocked into a car, thrown to the ground, stepped on and bound with zip ties. Her camera hit her in the face so she ended up bound, lying on her stomach with her nose bleeding. Sharif Abdel Kouddous was tackled, thrown against a wall and kicked in the chest several times before he too was cuffed.

Video of Salazar's arrest from her own Camera:

Goodman was charged with obstruction, Kouddous and Salazar with Felony Riot.

I haven't seen shit about this on TV yet. Probably wont. If she worked for a network I doubt this would have happened. If this is how the police treat journalists with press credentials, how are they treating an ordinary person?

Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way, perhaps the police see independent journalists as more of a threat than ordinary protesters.
